Pumping Basics

- How much you pump is NEVER an indication of how much baby gets while feeding!!! A pump works good but baby works better. πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ

. -When you choose to pump is up to you! Some mothers prefer after every feeding to build a storage if they intend to go back to work/leave child with a childcare provider. Others only pump to release milk because they are engorged or once a day after the morning feeding in the hopes of yielding the most milk. You can try several different options to find the right one for you! πŸ’œ

- Whether you pump one breast at a time or both is up to you. There is no need to pump a breast longer than 15 or 20 minutes. ⏰

- If you’re finding it difficult to pump or you want to be yielding more milk, try sitting in the area you normally feed baby in. Consider holding something that smells like baby or look at pictures of baby to encourage a let down. Some mothers prefer to pump one breast while baby feeds off the other to ensure a let down occurs! 😎
