Lactation for Birthworkers

This workshop intensive is designed to help you provide more comprehensive care to your clients. Curated for support prenatally through the fourth trimester.

Who is this workshop for? This workshop was designed to bridge the gap for those birthworkers who are not specifically lactation specialists but who desire to be able to guide clients more effectively until they can see a lactation specialist. My hope is that by teaching more than just latch and positioning, parents can have confidence in the need for deeper lactation support. 

What will be covered? What won't be! Yes, the basics of latch and positioning will be covered as well as subjects such as prenatal support and how birth choices can make a difference, first 24 hours and the changes that follow during the first week (often the most confusing week), as well info on preferred bottles, pacifiers, and pumping info. There will also be a whole section on restrictions (tongue/lip ties), body issues, and common interventions. 

What is included? I always hope to set people up for success and I know how daunting a workshop can feel so I leave participants with a bunch of resources - a full 28 page workbook with links to evidence based research, access to a google drive with pictures and videos, as well as access to a private facebook group for further peer support.

Where is it located?  I have the pleasure of hosting this latest workshop at a private residence in Los Feliz, CA 90027 as well as virtually via Zoom!

Anything else? This course is not just for doulas - I've had midwives, bodyworkers, nurses, and even a grandma who wanted to be able to support her daughter join!
